The United States Secret Service Cybercrime Investigations division has issued “Common Cybersecurity Practices” guidelines as a reminder of the ways we can all stay safe online.
Some of the best practices include:
- Ensuring all your electronic devices have the latest software updates and active anti-virus protection in place.
- Avoiding public WiFi services as cybercriminals can easily monitor your online activity from these connections.
- Never responding with “STOP” or “NO” to prevent future text messages from unknown sources. Simply delete the text instead.
